| Bicentennial of President Lincoln's Birthday |
| 2009 is the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln's birthday. As part of the many activities commemorating this event, Brekke Tours is inviting you to join the 2009 North Dakotans to Norway Tour, June 20-30. In 1914 the people of North Dakota raised money and traveled to Norway with Governor Louis Hanna. In Oslo, they present a heroic-sized bust of Lincoln to mark the centennial celebration of Norway's constitution and to commemorate the Homestead Act. This act was signed by President Lincoln, enabling thousands of immigrants to acquired free land in Dakota Territory. Plan now to take this tour. You will be traveling from Bergen through the fabulous fjord country to Telemark, Sarpsborg, Oslo, and Hamar. All the while learning about Norway and the North Dakota's Norway connection. Call 972-424-6867 for more information. |

He is urgently looking for stories that tell about life in Wartime Finland, both on the battlefields and on the home front. And that includes stories from people who grew up during Wartime Finland who can tell about being evacuated to Sweden , or serving in the factories, or watching for Russian airplanes on top of towers. He is also looking for volunteers who speak Finnish that could be on hand for the interviews, translate completed interviews, and anyone else who is willing to conduct the interviews themselves (with help/guidance if necessary).
